Got a piece of equipment with a 1/2" BSPP port that I need to tie into a 3/8" NPT line. This the right fitting to make that happen?

That's what this one's built for. One end is 1/2" male BSPP (G 1/2-14 thread) and the other is 3/8" male NPT (3/8-18 NPTF). So if you've got a female BSPP port on one side and a female NPT fitting or port on the other, this nipple bridges the two. It's a straight steel fitting, so no bends or offsets to deal with.

got a hose end that’s G 1/2 - 14 on one side and 3/8 - 18 nptf on the other. is this the right straight nipple for that?

Match-up is straightforward on this one. Side 1 is a 1/2 inch male BSPP with the callout G 1/2 - 14, and Side 2 is a 3/8 inch male NPT with the callout 3/8 - 18 NPTF. Both ends are male and the fitting is straight.
