Got a piece of equipment running BSPP fittings on one end and SAE O-ring boss on the other, this adapter supposed to bridge that gap?

That's exactly what it does. The 9006-12-08 runs a 3/4" SAE O-ring boss on one end and a 1/2" BSPP male thread on the other, so it lets you tie together systems that use those two different thread standards without modifying either side. Both ends are male, the shape is straight, and the whole thing is steel construction. If your equipment has those two thread types that need to meet up, this is a direct solution for that.
