Got a machine running BSPP fittings on one end and JIC on the other, does this adapter go straight between the two without needing extra pieces?

That's what it's built for. One side is a 3/4" male JIC with a 1-1/16 - 12 UN thread, and the other is a 5/8" male BSPP with a G 5/8 - 14 thread. Both sides are male, so you're connecting it between two female ports, one on each end. No extra adapters needed for that kind of crossover application. Steel construction throughout, so it holds up in working industrial environments.

trying to hook up a 3/4 JIC hose end to a 5/8 BSPP port. is this the right adapter?

Match the thread callouts and genders and it lines up. Side 1 is a 1-1/16 - 12 UN male JIC (listed as 3/4), and side 2 is a G 5/8 - 14 male BSPP (listed as 5/8). It is a straight steel adapter with an elastomeric seal.
