got a hose end that’s 1-7/8 - 12 UN JIC, will this adapter screw right onto it?

Fit comes down to the threads on each side. This adapter has a male JIC end with 1-7/8 - 12 UN threads (listed as 1-1/2 inch JIC) and a male BSPP end with G 2 - 11 threads (2 inch BSPP), so it will mate with a matching female JIC 1-7/8 - 12 UN connection.

Got a system running G 2-11 BSPP ports and need to tie into some JIC lines on the other end. This the right piece for that?

That's what this adapter is built for. One end is a 1-1/2" JIC male with a 1-7/8-12 UN thread, and the other is a 2" BSPP male on a G 2-11 thread. Steel construction, straight body, so if your JIC and BSPP connections are both male ports needing a male-to-male bridge, this fits right in without any modification.
