got a piece of equipment running JIC on one end and BSPP on the other, will this adapter connect them direct without needing an extra fitting in between?

That's what this one's built for. One end is a 1-5/16-12 UN male JIC, which covers the 1" JIC side, and the other end is a G 3/4-14 male BSPP for the 3/4" port. Both ends are male, so you're threading directly into female ports on each piece of equipment. No extra unions or adapters needed in most setups where those two thread standards meet.
