BSPP and JIC are two common but incompatible thread standards, and this fitting bridges them so you can connect lines or components that would otherwise not mate up. BSPP is a parallel British thread commonly found on imported equipment and certain fluid power components, while JIC uses a 37-degree flare seat and is standard on a lot of American-made hydraulic hydraulic connections.
