got a hose with a 5/16 jic male and the port i need to hit is 3/8 bspp, is this the right little adapter

For tying those two thread standards together, that is exactly what this adapter is built for. One end is a 5/16 inch Male JIC with 1/2-20 UNF threads, and the other end is a 3/8 inch Male BSPP with G 3/8-19 threads.
