got a 1/4" JIC line i need to tie into a 1/8" BSPP port, this the right piece for that?

That's what this adapter is built for. One end is 7/16-20 UNF, which is the thread spec for 1/4" JIC, and the other end is G 1/8-28, the standard BSPP thread for a 1/8" port. Both ends are male, so you'd need the mating female fittings on each side to complete the connection. Steel construction, straight profile, nothing fancy, just a solid piece for bridging those two thread types in a hydraulic line.

trying to swap an adapter on a little hydraulic line. is this the one that goes from 7/16-20 UNF JIC to G 1/8-28 BSPP?

Match it up by the thread callouts and genders. This adapter is male JIC on one side with 7/16 - 20 UNF (1/4 inch size), and male BSPP on the other side with G 1/8 - 28 (1/8 inch size), and it is a straight steel fitting.
