flow rate on this unit is listed at 3650 liters per minute -- that right? seems high for a cartridge valve but we run some pretty serious press equipment

That flow rating is accurate for the CVI-63-D20-M-50. The 63mm size designation puts it in a larger frame class, and Vickers built these slip-in cartridges to handle high-volume hydraulic circuits. Press applications, die casting machines, and steel mill equipment are exactly the kind of heavy-demand systems this valve was sized for, so that flow capacity lines up with what those environments require.
