fitting says carbon steel with Dura-Kote plating, how well does that hold up against rust over time?

Carbon steel fittings without any protective coating can start showing surface rust pretty quickly in wet or outdoor conditions. The Dura-Kote plating on these is specifically there to push back against that. It's a corrosion-resistant finish that goes beyond basic zinc plating in terms of durability, so for most field and shop environments you're not going to be fighting rust on the fitting itself under normal use.
