Got an older 70,000 Series telescopic cylinder that's been around the block a few times, got some scoring on it. Would vee packing hold up better than the u-seals on something like that?
Question by: Harold B on Sep 29, 2025, 12:23 PM
Vee packing is actually the better call for a cylinder in that condition. The 70,000 Series was originally built with urethane u-seals, but Hercules does offer a Type 3 packing kit specifically for retrofitting to vee packing. On a cylinder that's picked up abrasive scoring or surface blemishes over the years, vee packing tends to seal more effectively than u-seals will. So yeah, that retrofit route makes a lot of sense for a worn unit.

got a 70,000 series single-acting telescopic cylinder, is this the right bleeder valve for it?
Question by: Donna R on Aug 10, 2025, 8:03 PM
For 70,000 Series single-acting telescopic cylinders, this is the matching 1/8 inch bleeder valve and it is intended to be used on those cylinders.

Will this bleeder valve fit my 70000 series cylinder, or do I need to check something first?

It's made for the 70,000 Series cylinders. The product description mentions it's compatible with those.
