we get a lot of moisture around the yard and my steel fittings keep rusting out fast. does this one have any kind of coating to help with that?

Carbon steel construction is standard for these but Danfoss added a Dura-Kote plating specifically for superior corrosion resistance. That extra layer helps extend the overall life of the hose assembly and keeps the metal protected in damp environments.

fitting's got Dura-Kote plating on it -- does that actually hold up in wet or outdoor environments, or is that more of a marketing thing?

Carbon steel fittings without any surface treatment rust fast when exposed to moisture, so the Dura-Kote plating on this one is doing real work. It's specifically there to give you better corrosion resistance than a standard uncoated fitting would offer. For outdoor equipment or anything running in damp conditions, that coating makes a meaningful difference in how long the fitting holds up before showing wear.
