fitting says it's got Dura-Kote plating on it -- what does that actually do for you out in the field?

Corrosion is a real problem when fittings are exposed to moisture, chemicals, or rough outdoor conditions. The Dura-Kote plating on this fitting puts a protective barrier between the carbon steel body and whatever environment it ends up in, which means you're not pulling a rusted-out fitting six months down the road.
