does this fitting have any kind of corrosion protection on it? running equipment that sees a lot of moisture and had some rust problems with cheaper fittings before

Carbon steel fittings can be hit or miss in wet conditions, but this one comes with Dura-Kote plating specifically to hold up against corrosion. It's part of what separates the 6S Series from bare-steel alternatives. If you've had rust issues with other brands, the plating here should make a noticeable difference in how long the fitting holds up.
