Does the Dura-Kote plating on this thing actually hold up in wet or dirty environments, or is that just marketing talk?

Dura-Kote is a legitimate corrosion-resistant finish, not a label slapped on for show. Carbon steel fittings without a proper coating can start showing wear pretty quick when moisture and grime are in the picture. The plating on this fitting is specifically there to extend service life in demanding conditions, which is exactly the kind of environment these hose assemblies tend to live in.
