Dura-Kote plating is specifically there to fight corrosion, so exposure to moisture and grime is exactly the kind of environment it's built for. Carbon steel on its own would be a concern in those conditions, but the plating puts a protective barrier between the metal and whatever it's sitting in. Long-term durability in harsh environments is one of the stated design goals for this fitting, so it's not just a cosmetic coating.
