Does this elbow need any kind of thread sealant when you're putting it together, or does it just bolt up clean?

No sealant needed on this one. The flange connection on the Code 62 end seals through face contact and proper bolt torque, and the male JIC side relies on the metal-to-metal seat. Neither end calls for thread tape or paste to make a good joint.
