trying to tee off a hydraulic line, what are the ends on this branch tee?

On the run, it uses Male JIC connections, and the branch is a Male Adjustable O-Ring (MAORB) connection. It is meant to give you a solid tee point for tying another hydraulic line into the circuit.

What kind of connection setup does this branch tee use, and will it work for splitting off a hydraulic line into two directions?

You've got a Male JIC on two ends and a Male Adjustable O-Ring on the third, so yeah, it's built for exactly that kind of branch split in a hydraulic line. The adjustable O-Ring end gives you some flexibility in positioning during installation, which comes in handy when you're working in tight spots. It's a Brennan Industries fitting, so the build quality is solid for standard industrial hydraulic work.
