got a tight spot on a skid, is this the elbow that gives you a little more reach than the regular 90

It's sized as a -8, which means it's made for 1/2 inch lines. So, it should fit your half-inch lines if they're using the standard JIC and ORB connections.

Got a spot on a manifold that's real cramped for space and a standard 90 ain't gonna clear the adjacent lines. Would the extra-long version of this fitting give me enough room to work with?

Extra clearance is exactly what the X-Long configuration is built for. When a standard-length 90-degree elbow can't clear surrounding lines, fittings, or mounting hardware, the extended body puts more distance between the port face and the tube run, which gives you room to route without interference. If your manifold is tight and your standard elbow keeps clashing with nearby components, this one is worth trying in that application.
