what's this made out of, and will it hold up in a hydraulic line that runs pretty hot and dirty?

Brass construction handles the kind of heat and grime that shows up in typical hydraulic and pneumatic setups. The Dura-Kote plating adds a layer of corrosion resistance on top of that, so it holds up better than a plain brass fitting would in harsh conditions. Operating temps go as low as negative 65 degrees, which also tells you the alloy isn't brittle under thermal stress.
