got a hose end that’s 16 JIC swivel, and the other side needs to go into a pipe port. is this the right adapter?

For a setup like that, it matches up as Male NPTF on one end and a Female JIC swivel with a 37 degree flare on the other. The JIC side is SAE J514 with a 1-5/16-12 thread, and the NPTF side is SAE J476 with a 1-11-1/2 thread.

What thread types are we dealing with on each end of this fitting, got a port I need to connect to a JIC line and just wanna make sure I got the right piece.

One end carries a Male NPTF thread sized at 1-11/2, built to SAE J476 spec. The other end is a Female JIC Swivel with a 37-degree flare, sized 1-5/16-12, running to SAE J514. So if you've got an NPTF port on one side and a JIC swivel line coming in on the other, this adapter bridges that connection directly.
