thread sizes on this one got me a little turned around, the male end is the bigger of the two, right?

Correct. The male SAE O-ring boss thread measures 1-5/8-12, and the female SAE O-ring boss thread measures 1-5/16-12. So yes, the male end is the larger connection, which is what makes this a reducer rather than a straight union. Both threads conform to SAE J514, so as long as your ports and fittings match those specs, you should have no trouble getting a solid fit.

What size threads does this thing have? I'm needing to hook up two different sized lines.

It comes with a male SAE O-ring boss with a 1-5/8-12 thread size on one end, and a female SAE O-ring boss with a 1-5/16-12 thread size on the other. Both meet SAE J514 specs.
