thread on the male end, is that a standard SAE O-Ring Boss, and what size are we talking?

The male end runs a 1-5/16-12 SAE O-Ring Boss thread, built to SAE J514 spec. The female end is 1-1/4-11-1/2 NPSM, which falls under SAE J476. Both are well-established thread standards in hydraulic hydraulic connections, so finding mating components in the field shouldn't give you much trouble.

What kind of seal does this fitting use?

This fitting uses an NBR O-ring seal, which is a pretty common and reliable material.
