Reckon this would fit right on my older equipment? I'm using a 1/4-18 female NPSM right now.

thread on the female end is NPSM 1/4-18 -- does that mean it'll hook up to standard 1/4 inch pipe fittings or is NPSM something different I gotta watch out for?

NPSM runs on the same 1/4-18 thread pitch as standard NPT pipe fittings, but there's a real difference worth knowing. NPSM is a straight mechanical thread, not a tapered one like NPT. That means it won't seal the same way a tapered pipe thread does. The connection on this adapter relies on the thread engagement per SAE J476, so you'll want to make sure whatever you're mating it to is also NPSM spec and not a tapered NPT port, otherwise you're going to get a poor fit and likely a leak.

You are looking at a straight adapter with a male SAE O-ring boss on one end and a female NPSM on the other. The male ORB side is 1-1/16-12 per SAE J514, and the female NPSM side is 1/4-18 per SAE J476.
