That's how it works. The male end is a 3/4-16 SAE O-ring boss, which meets SAE J514. The female end is a 1/8-27 NPSM thread, compliant with SAE J476. So you've got two different thread types and two different sizes, which makes it useful for connecting mismatched ports in a hydraulic or fluid line setup.
