threads on this thing, is it a female ORB on one end and male NPTF on the other, or did I read that wrong?

You read it right. One end is a 7/8-14 female SAE O-Ring Boss, which follows SAE J514, and the other is a 1/2-14 male NPTF per SAE J476. That combination is pretty common when you're bridging ORB ports on hydraulic components over to NPTF pipe fittings in the same system.

What's the overall length of this fitting? Just need to make sure it'll fit in the space I have.

The overall length of this Brennan 10FORB-08MP straight fitting is 1.750 mm.

For fit and thread match, it is a straight steel adapter with a 7/8-14 female SAE O-Ring Boss port on one end and a 1/2-14 male NPTF thread on the other, built to SAE J514 (ORB) and SAE J476 (NPTF) thread specs.
