trying to hook a #2 female o-ring boss port up to 1/8 pipe, is this the right straight adapter?

For that combo, it matches up as a straight steel fitting with a #2 Female SAE O-Ring Boss thread on one end (5/16-24, SAE J514) and a 1/8-27 Male NPTF thread on the other end (SAE J476).

Yeah, that's right. One end is a 1/8-27 Male NPTF thread, which is your standard tapered pipe thread that seals by thread engagement. The other end is a Female SAE O-Ring Boss, sized 5/16-24, which seals with an o-ring at the boss face rather than relying on thread taper. Both ends meet SAE specs, B1 to SAE J514 and B2 to SAE J476.
