got a hose end that’s male JIC 37 degree flare. will this screw into a male ORB port or am I mixing stuff up

You’d be mixing it up. This fitting has two male ends, one is Male JIC SAE 37 Degree Flare and the other is Male SAE O-Ring Boss (ORB). A male ORB port expects a female ORB swivel, not another male ORB. The ORB side on this part is meant to thread into a female ORB port and seal on the NBR O-ring.

fitting's rated to 6,000 psi, that work for standard hydraulic lines on farm equipment and such?

Yeah, 6,000 psi max dynamic pressure puts it well within range for most agricultural and heavy equipment hydraulic systems. The NBR o-ring seal holds up under those working conditions and keeps things from weeping at the connection. Both ends are 1/2-20 thread, one side JIC 37-degree flare and the other SAE O-Ring Boss, so as long as your ports match up, you're in good shape.
