got a fixed port on a valve body that's sitting at a real awkward angle, does the adjustable feature on this elbow let you spin it around before you lock it down, or is it fixed once it's assembled?

Before final tightening, the fitting can be rotated to whatever position clears your obstructions or lines up with your port. Once you're satisfied with the angle, you torque it down and it stays put. That adjustability is the whole point of this style of elbow, real handy when you're working around fixed mounting points and can't reposition the component itself.
