If I'm hooking up some foreign-made equipment, will this elbow work with the BSPP threads?

This elbow is designed to adapt between ORFS (O-Ring Face Seal) and BSPP (British Standard Parallel Pipe) threads, so it should work for connecting equipment using those standards. Just double-check your thread sizes to make sure the 1/2" BSPP end fits your equipment.

trying to marry up a 3/8 ORFS line to a G 1/2 BSPP port. is this the right elbow for that?

For that combo, it matches up: one end is a 3/8 inch Male ORFS with 11/16-16 UN threads, and the other end is a 1/2 inch Male BSPP with G 1/2-14 threads. It is a 90 degree adjustable elbow, so you can clock the direction during install.
