what does the "CW" mean on this pump, is that the rotation direction?

Clockwise rotation, yes. The "CW" in the product name tells you the shaft spins clockwise when you're looking at the drive end. Getting that right before you install matters a lot, because running a gear pump in the wrong direction will kill it fast and won't move fluid the way it's supposed to.
