All three ports on this tee the same size, or is the branch port a different size than the runs?

All three connections are 1/4-18 NPTF, so the branch and both run ports are identical. That makes it a true equal tee, which simplifies things if you're working with a single line size throughout your system.

got a tee here with two 1/4 male pipe ends already, is this the one that has the other port female?

For this 5601-FG branch tee, two ports are MALE NPTF and the third port is FEMALE NPTF, all in 1/4-18 thread size per SAE J476.
