what thread spec does this plug follow, and is it NPTF or just NPT?

Male NPTF is the thread type on this one, built to SAE J476 spec. NPTF threads are cut to tighter tolerances than standard NPT, which helps them seal on thread interference alone without always needing tape or sealant. For hydraulic and pneumatic applications where a dry seal matters, that distinction is worth knowing before you order.
