got a 1/2-14 male NPTF port but i need to run 3/8-18 NPTF in it. is that what this bushing does?

It steps a 1/2-14 male NPTF on one side into a 3/8-18 female NPTF on the other, so you can reduce from the larger NPTF size down to the smaller one while staying within SAE J476 thread spec.

Got a 3/8 female port on a manifold block and need to step it up to a 1/2 male NPTF connection. This bushing do that job?

That's what this one's built for. The male end runs 1/2-14 NPTF and the female end accepts 3/8-18 NPTF, so it bridges that size difference right at the port. Both threads meet SAE J476 spec, so you're getting a proper dry-seal fit on both sides, not just a pipe thread approximation. Straight brass construction means it'll hold up fine in most fluid transfer setups without corroding out on you.
