Got a port on a manifold block that's tapped 1/4-18 NPTF and I need to run a 1/2-14 male line into it. This fitting do that in one shot, or am I still gonna need extra pieces?

One fitting handles it. The female end threads into your 1/4-18 NPTF port and the male end puts out a 1/2-14 NPTF connection, so you go straight from the smaller port to the larger line without stacking adapters. Both ends conform to SAE J476, and the whole thing sits in a single inline body, which keeps things tight in spots where you don't have room to chain fittings together.

got a 1/4-18 female NPTF port and need to step it up to 1/2-14 male NPTF in-line. is that what this fitting does?

In plain terms, it is a straight expander that goes from a #4 female NPTF (1/4-18) on one side to a #8 male NPTF (1/2-14) on the other, all in one inline steel body. Both ends are NPTF threads built to SAE J476.

So this fitting goes from a 1/4 inch female to a 1/2 inch male pipe thread, right? Just want to make sure I'm reading it right.

That's correct. It expands from a #4 female NPTF (1/4-18 thread) to a #8 male NPTF (1/2-14 thread) connection.
