got a reducer nipple here, is this one 3/4 nptf down to 1/2 nptf or am i mixin that up

You have it right. It is a hex nipple with male NPTF threads on both ends, with B1 at 3/4-14 and B2 at 1/2-14, both to SAE J476.

That's what this fitting does. One end is 3/4-14 male NPTF and the other is 1/2-14 male NPTF, both built to SAE J476. So if your ports or fittings match those thread sizes, you're connecting them directly with this one piece. No extra adapter needed.
