both sides on this fitting are M16 x 1.5 thread, does that mean it connects two DIN tube ends of the same size?

both sides are M16 x 1.5, and both are S08 DIN tube connections. The difference is that one side is male and the other is female, which is what makes the swivel function work. The 90 degree elbow shape lets you route a line around a corner while still allowing rotation at the female end so you're not fighting the hose when you tighten things up.
