Got a line running M45 X 2.0 female DIN on one end and need to step it down to a M36 X 2.0 male DIN connection. this the right part for that?

That's what this reducer is built for. Side 1 is a female DIN tube connection at M45 X 2.0 and Side 2 is a male DIN tube connection at M36 X 2.0, so it bridges those two sizes in a straight configuration. Steel construction, 45mm overall length, and the wrench flats come in at 46mm on the Ch1 side and 50mm on the Ch2 side. Should drop right into that setup without any fuss.

trying to step down from a M45 x 2.0 din tube fitting to M36 x 2.0, is that what this reducer is for?

For stepping between DIN tube thread sizes, it goes from a female M45 x 2.0 connection on Side 1 to a male M36 x 2.0 connection on Side 2, both straight DIN tube ends.
