Both ends on this thing are the same size and thread, that's what makes it a union, right? Just want to make sure I ain't missing something before I go putting it in the line.

You've got it right. Both sides are M16 x 1.5 with an L10 DIN tube connection, so it's a matched pair front to back. That's exactly what makes it function as a union. You can thread a DIN tube end into each side and get a straight, removable joint without any size change or direction shift in the line. Good choice when you need to be able to break that connection later without cutting anything.
