part says DIN tube on one side and BSPT on the other, is that M16 x 1.5 the tube fitting side or the pipe thread side?

The M16 x 1.5 callout is the DIN tube side, sized at L10. The BSPT side is the R 1/2-14, which is a half-inch male British Standard Pipe Taper connection. So if you're running a DIN tube line into a BSPT port, this fitting bridges those two standards at a 90-degree angle. Both sides are male on this particular elbow.
