what's the thread size on the BSPP end of this fitting, and is it a male connection?

The BSPP side is a male G 1/2 - 14 connection. So yes, it's a male fitting on that end, which means you'd be threading it into a female G 1/2 BSPP port on whatever you're connecting to.
