got a din tube setup with an M36 x 2.0 on one end and M30 x 2.0 on the other. is this the right union for that?

For that exact thread callout, yes. This union is straight steel with a male M36 x 2.0 DIN tube end on Side 1 (S25) and a male M30 x 2.0 DIN tube end on Side 2 (S20).
