Is this here union rated for heavy duty applications, or is it more for lighter stuff?

This Adaptall DIN union is part of their light duty series, so it's best suited for applications that don't demand extremely high pressure.

Correct on both counts. Each end carries an M26 x 1.5 male DIN tube connection, so you are looking at a straight union that joins two matching DIN tube lines without any thread conversion happening on either side.
