For joining two matching male pipe ends, it gives you female NPTF threads on both sides in 1-1/4-11-1/2, built to the SAE J476 NPTF spec.

Both ends on this thing are female NPTF, right? Just want to make sure before I go threading it into a male fitting on both sides of my line.

Correct on both counts. Each end carries a 1-1/4-11-1/2 Female NPTF thread built to SAE J476, so you'll be mating it to male NPTF fittings on both sides. That's the whole point of a union-style straight adapter like this one. Just make sure your male fittings match that 1-1/4-11-1/2 thread size and you're good to go.
