does the Dura-Kote plating on this fitting hold up when its getting exposed to moisture and grime regular-like, or is that more of a short-term thing?

Dura-Kote plating is specifically applied to deliver superior corrosion resistance, so it handles moisture and harsh conditions as part of its core function, not just as a temporary measure. Carbon steel on its own would corrode fairly quickly in wet or dirty environments, but the plating is what extends the service life and keeps the fitting performing in demanding conditions over the long haul.
