Does the Dura-Kote plating on this fitting actually hold up in wet or dirty environments, or is that more of a marketing thing?

Dura-Kote is a real corrosion resistance treatment, not just a label. Carbon steel fittings without surface protection can rust out pretty quick when they're exposed to moisture, road grime, or washdown conditions. The plating on this one is specifically there to extend service life in those kinds of environments, and it's part of why these TTC fittings get used in demanding industrial setups. It's not a substitute for proper installation and maintenance, but the protection is legitimate.
