fitting says it's got Dura-Kote plating on it -- what does that actually do for ya out in the field?

Corrosion is one of the bigger reasons hose fittings fail ahead of schedule, especially anywhere moisture or chemicals are in the mix. The Dura-Kote plating on this fitting is built specifically to push back against that. It gives the carbon steel body a protective layer that holds up better than standard plating in harsh service conditions, which means you're not swapping this thing out nearly as often. For use that run hard and can't afford unplanned downtime, that kind of longevity adds up fast.
