Will this fitting work alright with a standard metric hose?

It's designed to work specifically with metric hose and tube systems, and it's part of the Eaton Aeroquip 4-wire spiral TTC fitting line.

Both, actually. The 4S25DS12 is set up for metric hose and tube systems, so you're covered on either end depending on what you're running. The female swivel end with the DIN 24° seat is what makes it compatible across those metric connections, and the -12 dash size tells you the hose sizing you're working with.
