what's the coating on this fitting, and does it hold up decent in wet or outdoor conditions?

Dura-Kote plating covers the exterior, and that finish is specifically built to push back against corrosion. Carbon steel on its own can be vulnerable over time when moisture is involved, but the Dura-Kote treatment addresses that directly. It's a real-world consideration Eaton Aeroquip built into the design, not just a cosmetic layer.
