Dura-Kote is built specifically for corrosion resistance in harsh environments, so exposure to moisture and grime is exactly what it's rated to handle. Carbon steel on its own would rust out pretty quick in tough conditions, but the plating gives it a meaningful layer of protection that extends the service life of the whole hose assembly. It's not a decorative finish, it's a functional one engineered to keep the fitting performing in the kind of environments where these systems actually run.
